Tryout information
What can I expect throughout the tryout process?
Tryout registration is required for all athletes. Players may register in advance for a $45 tryout fee or register after October 23rd (including at the door) for a $65 tryout fee.
All athletes must also have a completed JVA waiver on file for the new season before participating in tryouts. The waiver is included as part of the registration process and must be completed for each athlete prior to taking the court.
Players should bring a season deposit check to tryouts. Deposit amounts may vary by age and are listed in the information chart on the club season page (click here).
Following tryouts, NE Velocity will work to establish team rosters and extend team placement offers within 24 hours. ONce an offer is received, Each player will have 24 hours to accept their roster spot.
A player’s deposit check will only be deposited upon acceptance of a team offer. if a player declines the offer or does not accept within the 24-hour acceptance period, the check will not be deposited and will be returned.
Because roster decisions may depend on the acceptance of earlier offers, some players may remain under consideration while teams are being finalized. Once all team offers have been accepted and rosters are complete, any remaining players who were not offered a roster position will be notified promptly, and their deposit checks will be returned.
Players should register for the age division determined by their USAV age classification, using the chart below. Grade levels are shown only as a general reference and do not determine a player's USAV age division. Players will initially be evaluated within their designated age group and placed on teams based on skill level, position, team needs, and overall fit.
In certain circumstances, a player may be invited to try out or be considered for placement at an older age level. These decisions will be made by NE Velocity on a case-by-case basis as teams are formed and will be based on what is best for both the individual athlete and the overall team structure.
